DAC, Inc., established in 1973, offers vocational training in a supervised environment to individuals with developmental disabilities. The training emphasis with these individuals is to develop employable work skills and habits to help introduce them into the community for competitive employment. Individuals earn wages for performing work from local businesses, such as small assembly, packaging or recycling.

The DAC Recycling Center, which has been in operation since June 1990, continuously strives to increase the efficiency and popularity of recycling in Jackson County. DAC worked in conjunction with the Jackson County Sanitary Disposal Agency to create a county-wide recycling program, which was implemented in 1991. This recycling program has been very successful in reducing county waste, creating more jobs and maintaining a cleaner environment.

The DAC Recycling Center is located at 1710 East Maple Street in Maquoketa, just off the industrial bypass east of town. There is an outdoor recycling dropoff at this location available to Jackson County residents 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Materials accepted are aluminum and tin, glass, paper, cardboard products, plastics and clothing.

The majority of the materials recycled in Jackson County are delivered to the DAC Recycling Center. In addition to being the central recycling facility for typical materials for Jackson County, the DAC Recycling Center also offers specialized recycling services:
